Word of the Week - Love
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
This is where God has led me during this season of pruning. I have been meditating on this verse for 4 weeks and will stay here until I sense God releasing me. This is so, so good. I desire to know and receive this love at the deepest level so I may have the capacity to love this way. I surely have a long way to go.
Below is my “Word of the Week” from January 2018 that speaks to this verse and the amazing Love of God our Father.
Of all the gifts that the Lord has given us He makes it clear that Love is the “why” that underpins everything He has done for us. The concept of Love can be so misconstrued and has been perverted in many ways by the world and our culture. God’s Love is so deep and has so many dimensions that it is really a mystery and hard to comprehend in its fullness. That is why I cherish this verse because it clearly defines Love and describes practically what Love looks like. It does not make reference to Love being a feeling, which is many times how we tend to describe Love. No, God makes it clear that Love is a decision put into action. As I grow in my walk with the Lord and get to know Him more, I better understand the fullness of God’s Love and how He extravagantly displayed His Love for us in the person of Jesus Christ. And yes, He calls us to Love others like He has loved us. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is Love.” Love is one of the spiritual fruits produced by abiding in Christ. I rejoice today in the reality that I am Loved by the Lord Jesus; as we receive God’s unconditional love we grow in our capacity to Love like Jesus.
Love never fails……
