Word of the Week - Courage

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid or fearful, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Tim 1:7

Courage is the internal strength to resist or overcome opposition, danger, hardship or uncertainty.  The counter to Courage is succumbing to fear and being cowardice.  If we are honest, I think we would agree that we all deal with some degree of fear and insecurity in our lives to include fear of failure, fear of man, fear of death, fear of the unknown etc.  So what gives us the strength to overcome fear and be Courageous?  I believe that the most healthy way to overcome fear is through faith and trust in God.  If we know God, trust in Him and walk by faith, we will grow in our purpose and security in Christ, and the bi-product of this is strength and Courage.  God tells us to “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6  If God has our back what do we have to fear.  In my walk of faith over the past 18 years I have found that the most joyful and fulfilling times of my life are when I am stepping out in faith and facing my fears head on with Courage, boldness and transparency.  Be Courageous in Christ and step out in faith.  “If God is for us then who can be against us” Romans 8:31Have a great week walking in God’s power and love with self-discipline….-Duane
