David attended Auburn University, majoring in Commercial Art. But more importantly, it was where he met Jesus and his wife Ellen. David and Ellen have been married 43 years and have six grown children and 10 grandchildren. In David’s free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, enjoying the views from Pursell’s “Secret Place” mountaintop, and golfing on the beautiful Pursell greens. David and his wife Ellen are owners of Pursell Farms, located just outside of Sylacauga. The 3200-acre property and hospitality business include The Inn at Pursell Farms, FarmLinks Golf Club, The Orvis Shooting Grounds, and Hamilton Place Wedding/Event Venue. David co-founded Pursell Farms with his father and mentor, Jimmy Pursell, whereby they operated a successful family fertilizer business called Pursell Technologies. The company used “weaponized hospitality” at Pursell Farms to grow relationships with prospective customers. They sold the business in 2006. He now describes his role as stewarding the Legacy left by his parents to use the farm and hospitality business to propel the Gospel. Vapor Ministries is an international ministry and strategic partner also headquartered at Pursell Farms.
